BSDC December 2013 Newsletter

Happy Holidays from the Black Swamp Driving Club!  What  a great time of the year!  It’s hard to believe that this year is coming to an end. The BSDC has one event left for 2013.
December 14th, Christmas on the Farm, Kenton, Ohio
This will officially close the 2013 events. Now we can start thinking about 2014!  Yes! It’s time to make plans for the new year.  Everyone needs to get their thinking caps on and prepare their suggestions. I do have some unconfirmed dates for our regular business meetings for the club. They are as follows:
January 12th,  February 9th,  March 9th, and April 13th  (2014).  Please remember these dates are not confirmed, so please watch the BSDC Newsletter. The business meetings are held at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Arlington, Ohio. The meetings begin at 2:00 p.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m. . We have a potluck after the meetings, so please bring your favorite goodies. Members, please plan to attend and invite your friends. Everyone is welcome to come and see what we are all about.
With the new year fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about drives and events that you would like to submit a date and time for. This way the club can prepare  a schedule to ensure your drive gets slated on the calendar. January is usually the kick-off month for events to be submitted, so please bring your information regarding the dates you would like to reserve to the meeting. We are really looking for an exciting 2014!   Let’s all make it happen!
The BSDC held its annual banquet on November 16th. It was great!  President Roger Murray thanked everyone involved with the planning of the banquet. He also thanked the board members for their services throughout the year. Thanks to everyone for making 2013 a successful year.  There is one person we would especially like to thank and that is Molly Owen. What can we say, she  went above and beyond! Molly made the greatest door prize for the club. The driving throw was outstanding! It was the envy of everyone in attendance. We also would like to thank Mary Elliott and Nathan Strasbaugh for their excellent auctioneering skills. The auction is the main fund for our operating budget. Great Job!!! We always have fun at the auction. We all laugh and have a great time with Mary’s added comments to the bidding. She will let you know when things are going too high! (right).  We would also like to thank Mark Newman for bringing his sleigh. It made an awesome addition to the banquet.
In closing, “thanks” to all the club members for everything you do. It takes everyone to make the club healthy and successful. With everybody making their contributions, however great or small, it takes team work to make things happen!
We wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season!
Enjoy!!
