Mary Elliot and Linda Spears hosted their annual hayride Oct. 25 at their farm near Galion, OH.  The event brought out a large number of members to enjoy the perfect fall weather and a sumptuous potluck.  A large pot of stew hung over the firepit while tables were loaded with food.  Members were reminded of the upcoming banquet Nov. 14 in Arlington, OH.  It was good to see Dale Owen looking much better and able to attend the event.  Elliot and Spears had decorated their front yard with pumpkins, bright leaves, and Halloween motifs.  As members arrived, several went right to the barn to watch Elliot prepare her Percheron pair for the hayride.  Once the horses were harnessed, however, everyone gathered to eat.
After the meal, Elliot hitched the horses to a large wagon and the first group climbed aboard for a trip around country roads.  Convenient stairs helped everyone to safely get up on the wagon and find a seat.  Heavy sleigh robes and bales of straw added to the fall atmosphere.  A second trip was necessary to make room for all who wanted to ride.

President Roger Higgins, Jr. announced that he has the dates for the winter meetings at the church in Arlington, OH.  Members are asked to suggest ideas for speakers and programs for these meetings.

Jackie Minges found a nice used marathon vehicle for her pony at the National Drive.  Getting it  home took some doing, but she is now able to drive it at home.  Mary Thomas has one of her homebreds out showing, most recently at the Katydid CDE, Windsor, SC.
