August 2009 BSDC Newsletter


Only a few more drives left for the year. I hope all of you have managed to

make it to at least one or two. If not, you don't know what you are missing.
     Upper Sandusky's drive was a hit. It didn't even rain on us. Our club made
the front page of the Daily Chief Union which is the local newspaper for Upper
Sandusky, Oh and also we made the front page of the Kenton Times, which is
the local newspaper of Kenton, Oh. Good job everyone!
     August 1st is Jenny Secrist's drive in Fremont, Jenny's Woods. That
address is 4316 Napoleon Road in Fremont, Oh. August 9th and 23rd will be
a fun show at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds in Upper Sandusky starting
at 9am. August 22nd will be John Miles' drive being held at the Hancock
County Historical Societies "Backstreet Days". Come display your buggies,
your carriage or you two wheeled carts along side antique cars dated from
1800-early 1900's. The Museum will be open also for free tours if you would
just like to come and look around. There will also be a chicken BBQ available
for an additional price. You will have to call the Historical Society to get your
advanced tickets to this 419-423-4433. The drive starts at 10:00am and goes
until 2:00pm. The Historical Society is located at 422 W. Sandusky St. in
Findlay, Oh.
     Don't forget the Hancock County Fair that is held September 2nd - 7th
 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds also in Findlay, Oh. They will have
classes to show your horses and open driving classes on Sunday if you
would like to come and compete. Good luck John!    
     Fall Frolic is going to be September 18-20th. This will be held in Granville,
Oh. at Infirmery Mound Park. Roger and Sue Murray's drive will be held in Tiffin,
Oh along with the Western Reserves at the Coonhunter's Club. This will be held
on September 27th.
     October 6th - 11th is the National Drive at the Kentucky Horse Park. They
will be offering the CAA Drive Proficiency Evaluation. John and Sarah Hunter
will be holding their annual drive at the Upper Sandusky's annual Cornhuskers
Festival. This will be at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds located on St. Rt 53.
On October 10th and 11th. This is also being held the same time the National
Drive at the Kentucky Horse Park,  we can't be in two places at one time, so
we will have to make a decision on which one we will be attending. I know I will
be at the Cornhuskers. IF you attend don't forget to bring your item for the
mulligan stew and items you aren't using for the yard sale.
     We still have not decided where we will be holding our annual end of the
year banquet. When I have a definate answer for you, I will post it in the Corral.
     I would like to apologize for the mis-spelling of Linda's name in the last
article. I re-read my email and on my end it was all spelled correctly and the
whole sentence was fine, so I don't know what happend there. Sorry again
