Greeting from the Black Swamp Driving Club.  As we write this article we are preparing for a busy holiday season full of family, fun, food and shopping.  Among all the activity it is time to inspect the equipment and assess what repairs need to be done during the winter weather.  This may also be a great time to dust off the sleigh and jingle bells as we are all hoping that the conditions will be right for a club gathering and a sleigh ride.

As we look back on the year's driving events we all have a hot to be thankful for.  We had a wonderful collection of gatherings with great turnouts and no horses or drivers came away with any injuries.  It is so great to be a part of a club that represents so many different types of vehicles and horses.  We seem to learn something new about various driving styles and equipment preferences every time we get together.  Another one of the highlights of each gathering however, is the food selection.  Each and every time there is so much to choose from that you can't even attempt to sample all of the wonderful recipes.

The best part however, of each drive is getting to visit with friends and catch up on the latest events in each other's lives.  Our recent annual banquet was no exception.  The food was incredible and the auction, thanks to Joe Bell, was just as entertaining as ever.  We sold some really great items this year which helped raise money for the club and we all had fun participating.  Officers for the upcoming year were elected and our meeting included a review of the year's events.

The winter meeting dates are January 14, February 11, March 11, and April 15.  We are tentatively planning to hold the meetings at the same church we have been using, but that still needs to be confirmed.  Watch for this information in the next article.

We look forward to seeing you all at the first winter meeting or at a wintery sleigh ride.  Until then safe driving and happy holidays.
