December 2007 BSDC Newsletter

Our Annual Banquet was a big success!  The banquet was held at the Plaza Inn in Mt. Victory, Ohio,  The food was great and the meeting room was just what we needed.  We had several things happening at the banquet.  We started dinner at 6 p.m. after dinner short meeting was conducted by Roger Higgins Jr.  He thanked everyone for a great three years that he held the office of president.  There was a big thank you to al the members that hosted drives this year and all the member that attended them.  It's a team effort to make events successful.

An introduction and thank you was made for the officers and board of directors.  It was an excellent board to work with.  Roger Jr. also held a moment of silence in honor of Joe Bell, a rose was placed on the head table in his honor.  It was announced that Ann Bell will be fulfilling Joe's term.  After the meeting we drew for the beautiful afghan that Joanne Shapler handmade and donated.  Phyllis Schreiner won it.  This was a fundraiser for the club.  WE then made our way for door prized.  We had tow blankets engraved with BSDC and six carnation bud vases for prizes.  The blankets were donated by Larry and Sandy Young, and the bud vases by Roger Higgins Jr., thanks!

The ballots were passed out to elect the new board members.  Roger Higgins Jr., and Sandy Young will be going off a three-year term, and Gary Gillfillian is going off a one-year term.  The election was held.  The new board members are John Hunter and Gary Gillfillian for a three-year term and Larry Young for a one-year term, and Brandy Eckard as reporter.  Congratulations!

We then had the auction.. and what a great time it was !  Brad Higgins was the auctioneer.  He really did an outstanding job.  We all had a great time.  Thanks Brad!  Hope to see you next year too.  Brad had an assistant too.  Roger Higgins Sr. helped keep things going and lively, a bit of modeling was done.  Great job, you guys!  Brad said he would tell us when the bids were too high.  The auction was successful too.  We will have a figure at the January Meeting.
