June 2009
It's summertime! It's about time. I don't know about you, but I am done with this cold weather. How many of you are out there enjoying your driving season? I know I am. I would like to give thanks once again to the Higgins family for their drive they sponsored in May down in Hepburn, Ohio. Even though it was cold and windy, I still had a good time. It was a really good turnout. Even though we always have a good time when all of us are together.
Oh my gosh, there is so much going on this year. Where do I start? I guess at the beginning. June 12, there is a carriage and draft horse sale down in Mt. Hope, Ohio. June 13, this is on a Saturday. The Black Swamp Driving Club  will be participating in the Wyandot County Historical Socities Carriage Day. It will be held from noon to 4:00 pm. Please try to get there early so you can be set up by noon and available to answer any questions people may have. We encourage period dress for this occasion. If we have inclement weather, there will tents provided. Parking will be available on surrounding streets. Carriage rides will be available for a small donation. Feel free to tour the museum if you like. The directions are as follows: Historical Society is located on the corner of West Johnson Street and South 7th Street. It is one block west of the Court House located in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
June 19th, located out in Topeka, Indiana, they are holding their annual carriage auction. If you are a carriage enthusiast I recommend you come to this sale. You can find anything ranging from carriages, sleighs to buggies. They have many other items that they auction off also. They range from horse tack to little odds and ends.      July 19th in Hamler, Ohio. Angie and Al Hohenbrink will be sponsoring a "Fun
Day." There will be cones set up, obstacle course and all kinds of games. A potluck will be available at noon.
