March News by Fred Thompson

First things first.  I would like to apologize for not getting the
report into the CORRAL for Feb.  I hope it didn't cause any problems.
I'm going to try to squeeze two meetings into one report.  Here it
goes. First off, the officers for 1999 will be as follows:

                       PRESIDENT -- Mark Newman,
                       VICE PRESIDENT Linda Spears
SEC.   \ TREAS \ CORRAL MEMBERSHIP -- Roger Murray
                       CORRAL REPORTER -- Fred Thompson,
DIRECTORS-- Peg Graham, Mark Newman, Linda
Spears, Roger Murray, Sandy Young,  Gerald Racey, Fred Thompson

I hope everyone got to see the article about our club in the COUNTRY
LIVING
magazine.  It not only mentions Black Swamp Driving Club, but
also interviewed many of our members.  Because of this, Roger and Susan
Murray received a call from Bill Weaver of Longaberger Basket.  He
wanted to discuss the possibility of holding a drive at there soon to be
opened Homestead and Crawford Barn Museum.  Longabergers would like to
hold four horse related events a year, one being a carriage drive. After
the meeting with Mr. Weaver it was set that we will hold a drive Sept.
24-26.
The officers, at the Jan. meeting agreed to, that anyone that
sponsors a club drive and has to rent facilities would be reimbursed up
to $50.00 per drive to help offset the cost of the rent.
At the Feb meeting Mark Newman suggested that this is the time to
start thinking about getting ready for the driving season. So lets tear
that harness apart and give it a good cleaning and make any repairs
needed.  Take a look at that cart or buggy.  Have you check for loose
bolts?  How about those wheels?  Have you cleaned and greased them? In
short, when the weather is ready for driving lets make sure our
equipment is to.
At the Feb. meeting Andrea Godamski  was our guest.  She is a member
of the Ohio Trail Partnership.  Andrea is meeting with the horse people
in the area spark interest in the up and coming RIDE, BIKE and HIKE day
on May 15th. The purpose of this day is to make the State Parks
officials aware of the interest horse people have in public riding trail
in the State Parks.
Because of some unfinished business, we will be holding a March
meeting.  It will be at the Trinity Lutheran Church on W. Bigelow in
Findlay, Oh.  on March 7th between 2pm and 4pm.  Directions:  from 224,
go west of I-75 to the first light which is Northridge Rd.
(Cracker-barrel Restaurant is on the corner), turn right and go to the
end.  The church will be on your right.  Please bring snacks to share
and coffee and punch will be provided.
If you wish to host on event, Please notify the board of directors of
your intentions so the date can be reserved.
