May 2010 BSDC Newsletter

You can lead a horse to water, but if you can get him to roll over and

float on his back, then you have really got something. I thought this was
cute, so I thought I would share it with everyone.
I hope everyone is gearing up for another new driving season that has
crept up on us so fast. Just seemed like last year came to an end. It
just doesn't feel like it should be time already. We have lots of things
planned including alot of new thigs planned, so grab your calendars, your
planners or your palm pilots and get ready to set some dates.
First off, we held our annual Safety Clinic at the Hancock County
fairgrounds on April 18th. This was a good turnout. I would personally
like to give a shout out and thank everyone who participated or helped
plan this event.
As you know our first drive of the year has always been the Higgin's
drive. This will be on May 8th at the Beechy/Amos/Gingerich Farm. This
is located between Pfeiffer Station and Rt. 309. There will be signs posted
and the potluck will begin promptly at noon. We will be sitting down and
having lunch along side the families at a thrashing table. After lunch they
will be demonstrating and informing us or teaching us I guess you could
say what all they do on their farm. And believe me it is a whole lot more
then just farming. Then feel free to hitch up and go on a drive. You can
visit the local families and shopes. Buy your baked goods at Mary's
Market or you can stop by Pfeiffer Station for a cool ice cream treat. If
you get lost trying to find where you are to be, you can call 740-251-7193.
Roger Jr will be glad to help you out. And please, be respectful of
their beliefs, DO NOT TAKE THEIR PICTURES. Feel free to take pictures
of other things, just not of them. Thank you!
May 21st-23rd is the Annual Spring Fling at Infirmary Mound Park in
Granville, Oh.
May 29th at the Crawford County Fairgrounds is the first COOSHA
open Horse Show. Starting time is 9:00am.
June 4th - 6th is the Carriage Roundup in Lexington, Ky at the Ky
Horse Park. If you are interested in going please tell a Blackswamp
Board Member and they can help you out. This gives us kind of a
head count for the tailgate picnic. We are also taking suggestions or
ideas for a tailgate theme. If you have any, please feel free to let us
know.
June 11th is the Mt. Hope Carriage Auction. June 12th at the Wyandot
County Historical Society will be our Carriage Display. This is in
Upper Sandusky, Oh. The Museum will also be open if you would
like to take a tour. June 27th and August 15th is an Open Pleasure
Show at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds. This will be at 9:00 a.m.
This is just a sneak peak at what is happening so far. There is alot
more to look foward to. So stay tuned and look foward to reading our
next article.
And as always feel free to call me or email me:john_and_steph06@yahoo.com
and I will be glad to post something for you or answer any of your questions.
