I would like to thank Roger and Sue Murray for the Coonhunter's drive in
Tiffin. That was a very nice drive. The weather was great, the fall colors were
beautiful and the scenery was unbelievable. If you didn't know you were in
Tiffin, you'd think you were in southern Ohio. I would also like to thank the
Western Reserves for having us as a part of this drive. If you get the
chance to attend this drive next year, you shouldn't miss it.
Let's not forget December 5th is the annual Horse Drawn Vehicle parade
in Lebanon, Oh. Bundle up it gets very very cold, but it is well worth attending.
The clubs own Julie Emmons drives in this parade. There are two of them. One
is held during the day and the other is held at night. They vehicles get all
decked out for christmas with lights and greenery. It's fantastic.
Quarterhorse Congress was a good tunrout in October. This was held in
Columbus. The Cornhusking festival that was held in Upper Sandusky was
fun. Alot of us had to get out our long underwear for the night time hours, but
we survived. We can't control mother nature.
Again I would like to send out a friendly reminder, those of you who havn't
paid your dues yet, the fee has been raised to $25.00 per family and single.
This will start in 2010. Don't shoot the messenger, Honest I am a nice person.
We recently held a board meeting on September 26th in Carey, Oh at
Splinters. If you would like to be on the board of trustees, let one of the
present board members know. If you need names or numbers, please let me
know and I would be glad to help you out. Feel free to contact me.
Keep in mind it is getting cold outside. Try to keep  your horses stalls
bedded deeply so they aren't walking around on cold floors. We all know
how that feels when we get out of bed of a morning and walk across a cold
floor.Well they don't like it either. Once the ice and snow falls, keep up on their
feet. Watch uneven ground. They can slip and fall or trip and fracture or twist
an ankle. Keep them well fed and watered. And you may want to invest in
some heated buckets. That way the water won't freeze. We all know how fast
those plastic buckets break when we are banging them around to break up
the ice.
I hope everyone has enjoyed the nice weather, and if you are able to get
out and drive, please do and enjoy every minute of it. Soon we won't be
able to.
As always, if you have any ideas, comments, drives or just want me to
post some information, please contact me
Would be glad to post it for you. Thank you.
