BSDC October 2007 Newsletter

Wow, it's October!  What a wonderful month, the leaves are changing and falling off the trees.  The bugs go wherever bugs go.  Before long old man winter will be knocking at our door.

The annual banquet will be held November 3 at the Plaza Inn in Mt. Victory, Ohio.  This was voted on by the Board of Directors.  The cost is $15 for adults, children 6 to 10 are $6.05, three to five are $2.75, and under three are free.  The buffet will consist of carved ham, carved roast beef, chicken and walleye.  A full salad bar, plus 20 desserts.  The cost includes buffet, tax, tip, and ice tea.  The banquet will be in the Coach and Surry Room, (the name fits the club) and we have the room for that evening called the Village Green.  The buffet will start at 6:00p.m., arrive around 5:30p.m. or before.  Please note, all reservations are to be prepaid.  We will be sending out forms in the mail to the membership.  Directions will be on the forms.

There will be an auction.   Everyone please bring items to the banquet.  The auction is a major contributor towards the operating budget, so please bid!

We will be calling the membership to establish a list of people interested in becoming a Board Member.  We have two three-year terms, one one-year, and we have an opening for someone to finish one year due to the resignation of Roger Higgins Sr.  Please step up for the challenge, everyone has something to contribute to the club.  We need people to carry out the duties to keep the club going, so please consider being on the board.

We received special donation form JoAnne Shapler, a beautiful Afghan.  We will be welling the tickets until the banquet and will draw a winner at the club's annual banquet.  You won't have to be present to win.  Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Cornhusker Days will be held at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.  On October 13-14, John and Sara Hunter will be hosting this Grand Finale.  You may arrive on Friday night if convenient.  Camping is permitted with water and electricity hook-ups.  There are two motels nearby.  Comfort Inn: 800-228-5150 and AmeriHost Inn: 800-434-5800.

BSDC will have vehicles on display and horses will be stabled in the 4-H horse barn.  An obstacle course will be set.  You may drive at your leisure throughout the fairgrounds during the weekend.

Saturday night we will be making mulligan stew with the meat furnished.  Please bring some veggies, etc. for the stew and another dish such as munchies or dessert if you wish.  Coffee and hot cocoa will be provided each morning.

Food stands will be set up on the grounds the entire weekend as well as many great craft booths.  Various activities, demonstrations, and contests will be taking place for the enjoyment of the entire family.

For more information call John and Sara Hunter at 419/396-6746.

We have received a special invitation to artist Karen Brenner's art show on "Beautiful Horses of Ohio."  It is an exhibit of 48 oil paintings.  The show will be a 3613 Triway Lane, Wooster, Ohio on Sunday November 4 from 1 - 4 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  There is a website of the horses included in the project, you may even know some of them, www.karenbrenner.com

On behalf of the Emmons and the Higgins, we apologize that the Parker Bridge drive was cancelled.  With all the rain there wasn't anyway to have it and where we were to park was flooded.  Maybe we can try again sometime for this drive.

If you need to post anything in the Corral, such as directions or wanting to host a drive I will need it by the fifth of the month prior.  You can contact me at 740-361-2145 or better yet at guysnwranglers@cheerful.com

Sandy Young and Peggy Graham are still in need of photos for the club scrapbook, if you have any please forward them on.
